One-sentence love stories is a durational participatory performance formed by one simple action. The performer writes continuously the phrase “And I love you, and […]” on the windows of the Design Museum building. Each time, the phrase is completed in a different way. The audience is invited to participate in the writing by using the same phrase as a departure point. The performance ends when all the windows are covered in stories.
One-sentence love stories explores the tension between public and private space and challenges which, whose, and in which form personal histories are allowed to be in the open. The performance aims to archive, honour, and monumentalize the various experiences of love. It is connected to the practice of graffiti and its uses throughout history.
